Elon Musk promised to make amends with the San Jose bakery “The Giving Pies” which shared on its Facebook page that Tesla abruptly cancelled a $16,000 pie order, leaving it thousands of dollars short, the New York Post reported.

Taking action Musk responded, “I just heard about this. Will make things good with the bakery,” via a tweet on his platform X on Friday afternoon.

“People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best.”

Voahangy Rasetarinera, the owner of The Giving Pies — a well-liked bakery in Silicon Valley — stated that Tesla ordered 2,000 mini-pies on Valentine’s Day for a Black History Month celebration.

She submitted a price to Tesla for the large order, which the representative from the firm authorised.

She then began working on the order, disclosing that, to complete it, she had turned down at least three other catering assignments.

After receiving no payment from Tesla’s vendor, City Flavour, Rasetarinera texted the firm the following day to inquire more.

Upon requesting payment, she was given an apology and told the vendor was “kind of new.”

She was then asked if her bakery could “double to order” 4,000 mini-pies, to which Rasetarinera agreed.

But the owner of the firm said that right before the pies were about to be dispatched, the company unexpectedly cancelled the purchase by sending a message.

When she asked why the order was cancelled, she was told the decision came from upper management.

The last-minute cancellation left Rasetarinera’s business at a loss of around $16,000.

On her bakery’s Facebook page, Rasetarinera stated, “This abrupt reversal left me reeling, realising the extent of the impact on my small business.”
