Five-time world swimming champion Miron Lifintsev admitted that he and his compatriots who competed in the 2024 World Championships in Budapest as neutrals were not allowed to celebrate their victories in a colorful way. The athlete’s words are quoted by TASS.

“Firstly, I wasn’t allowed to show their emotions. Secondly, there weren’t any: I just swam in and didn’t even really understand what was going on. I was both surprised and happy. There were emotions, but they weren’t bright, and I wouldn’t say I wanted to show them. I was happy, but rather satisfied with my work. The limitation was due to my neutral status – I couldn’t sit on the track and show anything,” Lifintsev noted.

The Russian team took second place in the unofficial medal count of the world championship in short-course swimming in Hungary, winning 39 awards, including 18 gold. The victory was won by the American national team.

Earlier it became known that St. Petersburg football referee Vladislav Bezborodov did not appeal the decision to suspend him until the end of the 2024/25 season.  Read the details in the Sports News Feed article.
