    Pakistan seeks Turkish expertise to enhance aviation industry

    Finance Minister, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has highlighted the significance of collaboration with Turkiye in the aviation sector, describing it as a “vital component” of the two nations’ bilateral relations.

    His remarks came during a meeting on Friday with the Chairperson of Pegasus Airlines, Mehmat T. Nane, and the CEO of Lucky Cement Limited, Muhammad Ali Tabba.

    Aurangzeb said that the partnership aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to elevate Pakistan’s aviation industry.

    He also referred to a recent meeting with the Turkish Trade Minister, where discussions covered various avenues for enhancing trade and business collaboration between the two countries.

    During the meeting, Mehmat T. Nane provided an overview of Turkiye’s aviation strategy, identifying key areas where Pakistan could benefit from Turkish expertise.

    He elaborated on how Pakistan might leverage Turkiye’s experience to advance its own aviation sector.

    The discussions were described as highly productive, signaling a positive step forward in Pakistan’s efforts to boost its aviation capabilities and strengthen economic ties with Turkiye, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry.

    Yesterday, UNDP successfully completed the $3.7 million project ‘Strengthening Tsunami and Earthquake Preparedness in Coastal Areas of Pakistan’ with the support of the Japanese government.

    According to a press release issued on Friday, the projected was completed in partnership with the Economic Affairs Division and the PDMAs of Sindh and Balochistan.

    Through the project, the UNDP addressed a critical development challenge in the coastal districts of Malir, West/Keamari in Karachi, and Gwadar by reducing tsunami risks and their potential impact on the coastal communities in Pakistan.
