LAHORE:

Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, Phillip Ramos, on Saturday expressed keen interest in establishing a strong economic collaboration between various sectors of Pakistan and the United States. In his speech, Ramos stated that the objective of his visit was to establish a sister-state relationship and build collaboration between the two respective regions in various sectors, including agriculture, education, health, trade, and culture. He emphasised the need to think beyond geopolitics and focus on economic development.

Anwar highlighted Punjab’s substantial contribution to Pakistan’s social and economic landscape, with the province accounting for over 50% of both GDP and population. He praised the agreement signed in January 2023, officially declaring Punjab and California as “sister provinces.”

The synergy between Punjab and New York holds great promise and is expected to bring transformative change to the socio-economic outlook of Punjab while strengthening Pakistan-American relations, he said.
